Little Q's photo shoot

With Quinnley's 1st Birthday just a few short weeks away, it was time for a mini photo shoot!  Little Q was a good sport with this photo shoot because we had some serious props - a backdrop, pearls, chalkboard, suitcase, and a fancy headband.  The pearls were by far the best of the bunch!  They belonged to Q's late Great Grandma Marie and were passed down to Q and her big sisters for dress up.  I think her big sisters were even a little jealous that Q got to wear all the pearls for her pictures!

Bahama Mama & Dada

Brad & I took our 1st (I hope of many) vacation without Eloise.  There was serious ugly crying on my part when my parents picked up Eloise and took her away but I eventually calmed down and managed to return to pre-vacation excitement.  We flew to Orlando, took a shuttle to Port Canaveral, and left departed for the Bahamas!  Thanks to my federal government ID, we were able to bypass all airport security on both legs of the trip.  One of the few perks of being a federal employee!  To my surprise, Brad upgraded our room on the cruise to one of the owner's suites on the ship (there are 2).  Can we say baller status?!?  It was AMAZING.  We were escorted to our room, bypassed all the waiting in line that goes along with cruising, and were provided to endless perks throughout the trip.  We rode ATVs, played at the Atlantis water park, gambled, got some spa treatments, ate lots of food & drank too many pina coladas.

Faux Fur vest & Pigtails: Who wore it best?

Booties.
When the bootie craze started this season, I was skeptical about the look.  After seeing them on some real people and not just the skinny & super tall models on Banana Republic or J.Crew's websire, I was sold.  After a trip to DSW and some serious online shopping, I ended with 2 pairs.  Black ones are Dr. Scholls & Taupe ones are TOMS.  Both are actually super comfy!  In fact, I've worn both of them all day at work.

{three}
Brussel sprouts.
For no particular reason, I'm obsessed with brussel sprouts right now.  A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon a bag of shredded brussel sprouts in the produce section and decided to give them a go.  There was a VERY simple recipe on the back of bag that I decided to give a whirl. At this point, I've been making it weekly so I have the recipe memorized.

  • Olive Oil
  • Minced Garlic
  • Chopped Onion (I use the frozen chopped onion - super easy)
  • Real Bacon pieces
  • Brussel Sprouts, shreds or chopped
  • Black pepper, to taste
Saute' some minced garlic and onions.  Add the brussel sprouts shreads & bacon pieces.  Stir to mix.  Cover. Stir periodically.  Let simmer until brussle sprouts seem tender. Serve immediately.

My mantel decor.
I got this great chalkboard print from one of my favorite bloggers - Jessica Garvin. Her blog sparked my love for chalkboards. You can find all her prints at her Etsy shop.

{W} Family Party

Most of the photo shoots that I do are for Christmas cards, Birth Announcements, or just plain ole annual family photos.  This past weekend, I was hired to take some family photos at an 85th birthday party.  Family members flew in from all across the country for this celebration so it was an opportune time to take some family photos.  I was happy to help this family document this special occasion!

Sisterly Love!

This past weekend I did a fun photo shoot for one of my dear friends Mandy (aka Mandy 2 or just 2) and her 2 sisters Kara & Jenna.  Their mom requested a professional photo shoot of her girls for her Christmas present.  I was thrilled that they thought of me to take their photos!
The swings were Jenna's idea & I love when the clients suggest fun stuff!

A "head shot" per Mandy's request.
I'm sure I'll see it some big time magazine or website very soon!
