What is Sew Snappy's photography style?

I am a natural light and lifestyle photographer.  What does that mean exactly?  I do not have a studio so I love to shoot outdoors as natural light is truly the best light.  My goal is capture you and your family in your element - whatever that may be.   I've done photo shoots in many locations and I'm always on the hunt for a new place so I'm happy to make some suggestions if you need it.

What would Sew Snappy recommend we wear for out photo shoot?

Try not to have all family members wear the same piece of clothing on top or on the bottom, such as tops or pants.  Wear similar color tones to one another as opposed to all wearing the same color.  For example, if you love blue, then have a few family members wear a different shade of the color along with a neutral shade of gray or white.  Also, a few people wearing plaids or gingham can look great if you are trying to break up a monotone look to your group.  Don't forget about using accessories to tie in some color - scarves, hats, ties, shoes or even a great statement necklace!

What about prints & patterns?  I normally advise clients from having everyone in the group wearing patterns that are too busy.  The key to mixing patterns is to vary their size.  If your child has a large pattern on their outfit, parents should wear something in a solid color or with a smaller pattern.  What to do with that cute, busy floral print on your daughter's dress?  Have Dad wear a small gingham dress shirt in a complimentary color.  Adding a solid color sweater or jacket can help break up those patterns too.  A good rule of thumb is no graphics or pictures on clothing- it’s too distracting. Try to stick to basics: Solid polos, sweaters and pants are great to mix with a few patterns.  You can mix different fabrics such as cotton knits, corduroy, flannel and denim for depth and interest.  Pinterest is a great place for ideas too!
