It's a Bug's Life

I've been infested by bugs!
Granted, these bugs are a trio of 2 cute Bumble Bees & a tiny Lady bug.  This Halloween, I made some custom frames for Alex & Reese - the Bumble Bees - and Grace - the Lady bug.

Alex is rocking the bumble bee & zebra combo that is going to be gracing all the runways this Fall.  Work it!

Sonny Acres is the place to be!

Dina, my 2 nieces Alex & Reese, and I made a trip to Sonny Acres Pumpkin Farm & managed to enjoy almost every thing that Sonny Acres have to offer.

Scoped out pumpkins of all shapes, colors, & sizes

 Posed for funny pictures

Reese was the smartest one of all - she kept bundled up & enjoyed the stroller ride

Took in the beautiful Fall colors

 Rode the train

 Rode the Elephant Ride

Took a snack break and enjoyed a pumpkin cookie

 Fed the animals
Alex would go up to each animal and say "Hi Sheep...Hi bunny...Hi Pig" and then make their respective noise.  Hands down, the pig noise was the best.

 Mastered the slides

 Posed for more funny pictures

For the finale...Rode a Pony
For this part, I walked along side Alex and held on to her.  When the ponies first started moving, Alex looked at me and said, "Scary."  I asked her if she wanted to get off and she said, "No."  A few more laps around and she said, "Let go!"  I still held on but I'm quickly realizing that we have a little dare devil on our hands and my sweet little Alex is growing up.

Thanks for the great day Sonny Acres!  See you next year...

Waiting

My friend Anita shared this devotion with me the other day & it touched me and also made me think of many people in my life.

Is there something you are waiting for, something you are trusting God to do, to perform, to fulfill, and He hasn't done it yet?  You are probably waiting longer than you thought you would have to wait.  But that doesn't mean God's provision in cancelled.  It just means His promise is delayed.  Our timetable is different from His, and on occasion He will say, "Wait."  I repeat, the delay doesn't mean He has cancelled it, it simply means He's building our character through the process of waiting.

I waited patiently for the LORD;
and He inclined to me and heard my cry.  ~ Psalm 40:1

It's words like this that can give us perspective in life.  There are times when I feel like I've waited for a lifetime something that I wanted, only to wait longer.  At least I know that I'm building character in the process ;)

Maxey-mum Nursery Design

What's a Mama to do with one bedroom, a toddler boy, and a baby girl on the way?  My long time friend Tichiya has always loved purple and wanted a purple room for her baby girl but how could she incorporate purple with her blue theme?  Her & her husband Kenny came up with this amazing grid pattern for the main wall in the bedroom that big brother Kamden & the new baby will share.

Of course, the Maxey kids needed new banners to match their new room.
Along with purples & blues, they incorporated letters & numbers into the design.
Here is Kamden's banner with his initials & birthdate.

Here is New Baby Kaileigh's banner to match her pretty flower patterned bed set

One more thing to tie it all together -
a custom frame for the room to hold a picture of big brother & little sister

Bonus: a custom frame for Baby Leo to go with his jungle-themed nursery

Whatcha readin?

I get a lot of questions from various people in my life about good books that I have read.  I really love historical fiction and memoir-esque novels.  I would definitely do a google/amazon search on these books before you buy in case one is not quite your cup of tea.  Here is a list of some of books,  in no particular order, that my book club has read over the last few years and a few personal favorites.

Happy 1 year Blogiversary!

Happy 1 year Blogiversary to Sew Snappy!

I started this blog as a way to display some of my photos and craft projects and while it still serves that purpose, it has developed into so much more.  It had been a great outlet to talk books, important events in my life, and at times an outlet for some of my most random thoughts.  Because of the great feedback that I have received along with some encouragement from a few dear friends, I have been inspired to take Sew Snappy to the next level.  With Brad's help, Sew Snappy won't just be a blog anymore, but a real business.  Sew Snappy Productions for all things photography and homemade crafts is expanding!  Stay tuned for more information about my new website, services, and products.  I'm super excited for the opportunities ahead.

Thank you to all my loyal readers and supporters! Without you, there really wouldn't be a point to all of this. I started pinning up all the thank you notes I have gotten recently as a reminder to myself of why I keep myself so busy with photo shoots and craft projects.  I love every second of it!  I hope you all keep coming back for more.

Introducing Baby Leo

Leo Micah Flores had us all thinking that he was holding out for an October birthday as his September 24th due date came & went.  Leo made his entry into the world on September 30th just past midnight.  As expected, he is just a sweet and handsome like his big brother Milo. This past Sunday, I did a photo shoot with Leo and proud parents Kristin & Eric.  It is truly an honor when new parents let me into their family cocoon to help document this special time.  I look forward to many more photo shoots with the Flores Family!
