I just finished my 4 week Intermediate Photography class at the Chicago Photography Academy this week. The class was about 90% technical and 10% creative. I learned a lot and I'm trying to incorporate it all into every picture I take. The final assignment was to do 2 Self Portraits. One needed to be a traditional self portrait - a head & shoulders shot. The second shot needed to be creative and showcase some part of our personality. That photo is an homage to my clothes horse tendencies and my reputation for taking a long time to get ready because I can't figure out what to wear.

How did I get to be Sew Snappy?
I was the kid growing up making crafts, doing projects, and getting excited about school assignments that involved being creative. I kept up with my crafty tasks & scrapbooking all through college but then once I started working full time, I let it fall by the wayside. In the spring of 2009 when I was planning my sister-in-law's baby shower, I was inspired again! It all started with the idea to make a diaper cake for Dina and mysweet angel of a niece, Alexandria. Since then, I've started making custom diaper cakes, name banners for nurseries and kids' rooms, and baby blocks for all the little kids in my life. Tapping into my creative side again has really helped me feel balanced in my life. Playing social worker all day can be hard so I look forward to coming home, having dinner with Brad, and working on my latest craft while watching some trash TV.
Alex's baby blocks were her 1st Christmas Gift.
Cole Shein got his baby blocks for 1st birthday. In typical boy fashion, the first thing he did was stack them up and knock them down.
A diaper cake for Mary Shein's baby shower for Cole. His cake was topped with a football player & cheerleader rubber duckies in honor of his mommy & daddy.
Mini name banners for 2 of kiddos who travel the world - Liam & Ana McCambridge

And the blog is born!
I've been creeping around long enough on all my friends' blogs that it was about time I started my own. I needed a place where I could post pictures of my crafts, photos, and other randomness. A sassy little blog seemed like the best place. I love being able to show my friends and family my latest project or great photo. I'm always looking for a new craft or perfecting one I've been doing for years. My latest adventure is photography. I'm loving everything about learning what it takes to get a great picture. Stay tuned for the latest in my Sew Snappy endeavors....
